Jane Gowans | Contemporary Scottish Jewellery
Award winning Dundee-based jeweller Jane Gowans has steadily built up a deserved reputation for producing outstanding contemporary work that is derived from her passion for experimentation and traditional
craft practice. Her simple, stylish, striking pieces are made to be engaging and accessible and have won many a celebrity admirer, including singer Emeli Sandé, actress Emma Thompson and MTV presenter Laura Whitemore.
Gowans approached Rydo to produce her
identity design while she was in the early stages of building her business and the relationship
has continued as her company and brand have evolved. A distinctive ‘maker’s mark’ style symbol was created which encapsulates the Jane Gowans philosophy and which looks resplendent in silver or gold when stamped onto packaging and print. As with the work itself, the broader visual identity employs a playful, geometric focussed approach to colour, pattern and mark making, complemented by Gowans’ sophisticated photographic imagery.
