Archive Trails

Print & Promotion

Tracer Trails was a music promotion company, founded by and run by Emily Roff, which existed between 2005 and 2012 to organise shows, festivals and other events for touring bands and solo artists in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It ran Archive Trails, a residency programme for three musicians in the School of Scottish Studies’ sound archive at the University of Edinburgh. The project culminated with a live tour around Scotland in the autumn of 2011.

To document the Archive Trails activities, a quality printed catalogue was created to offer insights into the resident artists’ research findings, thematic exploration and creative processes. By making use of clean, bold headline typography with a muted colour palette and full bleed images, the design served to support the content and resulted in a document which holds enduring appeal.
